The name COIRE (pronounced KOY-ree) comes from the Latin coire, meaning “to unite.” It reflects our founding belief: injustice against animals and the struggle for human equality are one fight.
We cover injustice in all its forms. Animals occupy a central place in our reporting. They face some of the most severe and systemic forms of cruelty, while lacking meaningful legal standing, political representation, and the ability to speak for themselves. This is why we focus on them.
The systems that harm animals and people are often the same, built on extraction, enabled by failures of accountability, and sustained by silence. We trace them wherever they lead.
Harm is harm, regardless of who it happens to. We focus on where it occurs, who is responsible, and who is held to account. The evidence speaks for itself.
Our reporting is free to access, with no paywalls or advertisers. As an independent nonprofit newsroom and registered 501(c)(3), our only allegiance is to the public.
